In this Webinar, the focus is on creating a safe and secure environment for children. Amanda discusses the importance of using play in therapy sessions with parents and children. It acknowledges the resistance that parents may have towards active play and the reasons behind it, such as past experiences or lack of confidence. Amanda Becks, LCSW



Amanda Becks, MSW, LCSW has worked with children and families at Chaddock for 21 years. Amanda has worked in several roles at Chaddock including direct care staff, clinician, and currently serves at the Clinical Supervisor for Residential Services. She is a Certified Threraplay® Practitioner. Working in the attachment and trauma field within a residential treatment facility has provided numerous opportunities to help children and families connect and heal through the use of Theraplay® as well as other modalities used within Chaddock’s Developmental Trauma and Attachment Program Model. Working with families fuels Amanda’s passion and desire to continue to improve upon the use of attachment and trauma focused interventions within her clinical work.

About the Host


Josh Carlson is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Executive Director of The Knowledge Center at Chaddock. He oversees the training and consultation endeavors TKC offers and is one of the lead trainers. Josh combines his over 17 years of experience at Chaddock with humor and fun that engages his audiences as they learn. He has a Masters in Social Work from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
